Description: Questions of innocence and culpability punctuate the theme of the Washburn University summer theatre production “Doubt,” opening June 20 at the Andrew J. and Georgia Neese Gray Theatre , Garvey Fine Arts Center.
Set at a Catholic school in the Bronx , “Doubt” centers on a nun who grows suspicious when a priest begins taking too much interest in the life of a young male student. The play creates a provocative study of the tenuous nature of faith and the inconstancy of justice. The playwright, John Patrick Shanley won the 1987 Academy Award for Writing Original Screenplay for the film “Moonstruck,” and wrote and directed the 1990 film “Joe Versus the Volcano.”
