Fractional light as a modern fountain of youth?

Maureen Murphy became an actress at age 40.

“It was the result of a midlife crisis,” Murphy said. “Instead of getting a convertible or having an affair, I became an actress.”

Murphy is now 52, but she doesn’t look her age, because she works at it.

“I had skin cancer in my 20s,” Murphy said. “I was one of those sun-worshipping baby-boomers. So, I had a lot of skin damage by the time I got into my early 40s.”

Murphy has had a number of non-surgical treatments to keep her skin in top condition. The latest is a pulsed light system called the Starlux IR.

More Information

Learn more about the Starlux IR – an innovative skin technology.

“The Starlux IR fractional device is a very unique technology,” Dr. David Vasily, Dermatologist, said. “It delivers light, just the right amount of wavelengths, deep to the dermis where you need it.”

The fractional light is the key to comfort.

“There’s no heating or very minimal heating and no tissue damage. That allows you to create damage in focal areas and not over the whole contact area of the hand piece,” Dr. Vasily said. “So it’s a much safer technology. It is very tolerable.”

Patients typically have three treatments spaced one month apart. Dr. Vasily said improvements can be seen for up to two years.

“I have a feeling that taking care of your skin is an ongoing process,” Murphy said.

A process aided by innovations like the Starlux IR. The Starlux IR is FDA approved for deep tissue heating. In fact, this fractional technology is also showing promise in tightening tummies, stretch marks, and loose areas of skin under the arm.
