A corrections officer has been fired after failing to search a van that carried a convicted killer out of Lansing Correctional Facility.
John Manard and his alleged accomplice Toby Young have been missing since February 12.
Officials said the officer didn't follow proper security procedures.
Officials are not identifying the officer but said he's been at Lansing for at least eight years.
Police said Manard escaped in a dog crate as Young drove the van out of the prison.
The two are still at large.
