'You, Me and Dupree,' and 'Little Man'

I've been taught to beware of people who are only known by their last names. Such is the case with Dupree in the comedy "You, Me and Dupree." Owen Wilson plays the surnamed misfit, who is one of those enthusiastic guys everyone knows, but who was never able to escape the college party attitude, even though he's in his mid-30s.
In the film, Dupree again finds himself homeless, jobless and car-less, so he moves in with his newlywed pals (played by Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson). Once there he functions like the third wheel of a scooter that is responsible for steering the other two into trouble.

"An Inconvenient Truth" is also opening at Hollywood Stadium 14 this weekend. That movie plays at 4:25, 7:10 and 9:40 p.m. Before you go, read Jon Niccum's review of "An Inconvenient Truth."
The "annoying friend movie" is hardly a new concept. But "You, Me and Dupree" delivers enough laughs to overcome its sitcom demeanor. And it picks up momentum as the mayhem escalates. Much of this is due to the performance by Wilson, a master of the kind of offbeat, infectious charm that probably could allow him to coast through life just like Dupree.
For those who thought "Baby Geniuses" was too high concept, here comes "Little Man," the other movie opening in area theaters this week. Marlon Wayans plays a vertically challenged criminal who infiltrates the home of a childless couple by pretending to be an abandoned baby. Wow.
