For many people, memories of the '66 tornado are swirling in their heads on this 40th anniversary.
A young Ed Bozarth remembers what he was doing that day. He was on a job interview.
He was set to start classes in the fall at Washburn University and was applying for his first job in car sales at a Downtown Topeka Dodge dealership.
As he looked back, he said he had no idea the worst tornado in the city's history was headed straight for him.
"We went across to a parking lot that was at 915 Quincy. We wrapped ourselves around one of those columns and held on to one another,β Bozarth said. βIt sounded like a freight train had just gone through outside. When we walked out it
Bozarth said he was inspired by the city's re-growth after the tornado and feels privileged to have had his Chevrolet dealership grow along with it.
