Golden Giants lose to Mudcats, 7-5.
Topeka The Topeka Golden Giants played the Chillicothe Mudcats at Hummer Sports Park on Wednesday night. It was a beautiful night for a ballgame, but not-so-beautiful for the Golden Giants.
By the bottom of the second Topeka was down, 3-0, and still hitless thanks to the fine Chillicothe defense.
The score remained 3-0 until the third inning, when the Giants finally decided to go to work. Jake Dean hit one far enough for Jarrod White to come in to score, making it 3-1.
The Giants eventually went on to take the lead, but in the top of the eighth they trailed, 5-4, when the Mudcats hit a three-run homer to knock off Topeka, 7-5.
