Chipotle restaurants across the country are raising money for an organic farming group based in Salina.
The Denver-based company says it will donate up to $50,000 in guacamole sales Wednesday to The Land Institute. The institute researches environment-friendly farming methods.
For example, researchers want to breed corn, wheat and soybeans so they come back each year and don't need replanting. The institute also looks for ways to reduce the use of petroleum-based pesticides and fertilizer.
Chipotle founder Steve Ells says the institute matches with the company's support of organic farming.
There are more than 500 Chipotle restaurants nationwide.
