Burning in Osage could be costly during dry spell

County Commissioners have imposed a state of disaster emergency proclamation prohibiting all prescribed burns, at least until next Monday.
This means anyone building campfires or carelessly disposing cigarettes and other tobacco products could face some serious charges.
Osage County Commissioners say conditions are just too dry to take any chances.
"We have not had measurable rain on a county-wide basis in two to three months. The humidity is low. The winds are high - perfect environment for a fire," said Osage County Commissioner William Prescott.
Any violators could face up to a year in jail and up to a $25,000 fine.
