An Amber Alert has been issued for a 3-year-old North Dakota girl, believed to be with a man posing as her father and possibly headed for Kansas.
North Dakota authorities say a man who claims to be Reachelle Smith's father may be enroute to the Wichita area. The girl was last seen at her Minot home on May 16th, but the Amber Alert issued Monday night said she was abducted Monday morning.
Minot Police say the girl is believed to be with 22-year-old Leigh Cowen. He claims he's the girl's father, although he isn't.
Cowen may be on his way to Derby, Kansas, where his mother moved a few days ago.
The girl's mother does not have legal custody of the child, who lives with her mother's sister who is the child's legal guardian.
Police said Cowen's mother sometimes looked after the child.
