Local tour company concentrates on the phantasmal side of Topeka

The scene is a dimly lit room with two young women sitting on a sofa.

"We are currently at one of our haunted locations, the Moose Lodge in North Topeka, and I am sitting on a piece of furniture that has a ghostly woman attached to it," says Cathy Ramirez of Ghost Tour Topeka.

"Sheryl and Dorothy, a mother and daughter team, used to clean the bathroom, kind of manage the building. On occasion, Dorothy's in cleaning the bathroom, she's cleaning the mirror, she sees the ghostly old lady sitting in a chair behind her. Next thing she knows, she's trying to get out the door. The door will not budge, there's no lock on the door, she cannot get out. She starts screaming. Cheryl comes to her rescue. There's a chair propped up on the outside of the bathroom door."

The scene changes to a gloomy cemetery, headstones looming, leafless trees against the darkly clouded sky.

"The Curtis Family cemetery. The first time that Cathy and I were up there doing research," says Beth Cooper of Ghost Tour Topeka, "and I took a lot of photos. I zoomed in on one of those photos, and I noticed an image of a man, and we call him tuxedo man now because he was in a tuxedo. And the crazy thing was his image faded off of our digital camera."

Welcome to another haven for headstones, Rochester Cemetery in Topeka.

"There's a lot of misinformation printed about the Albino Lady. A more interesting story I received was from a gentleman about he and his buddies went out to the cemetery. They had an encounter with the ghostly Albino Lady. She had a white German shepherd dog with her. The dog had pink eyes and was on a transparent leash. He claims that he spoke to the Albino Lady. She asked them what they were doing there. He said 'we're looking for you," and she said 'you boys better go now, I have to leave.' "
