Mother Nature sparks huge fire at Oklahoma refinery
10:34 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007
A lightning strike caused a fire at a refinery in Oklahoma Friday.
The flames from the fire at Wynnewood Refinery spread to another tank that caused an explosion that was felt from miles away.
No one was injured in the fire that sent flames and smoke hundreds of feet into the air.
Authorities closed parts of highways nearby as a precaution.
Fire officials sprayed foam on the flames, but they say the fire could burn for days.
The fire is the second at the facility in less than two years.
The refinery produces gasoline, diesel fuel, military jet fuel, solvents and asphalt.
