Rape victim's father feels justice has been served

VIDEO:

After Thursday's court ruling in the Orlando Cisneros case, 49 News Jessica Lovell talked with the victim's father.

It hasn't quite sunk in for the victim's father, Michael Burlison.

He couldn't be more pleased with Thursday's outcome.

After a very public outcry for justice, he's at peace and feels justice has finally been served.

He talked to me about how his family feels now, and had a message for the man found guilty of raping his daughter.

"Just getting started with the feeling of closure. It's just like a huge weight lifted off my chest and my wife and daughter, too," Burlison said. "The key word is she feels safer. The time that he spent out of jail and out on the streets of Topeka, I never felt safe for her."

"Cisneros did what he did to himself. What goes around comes around. Enjoy your time in jail, that's all I have to say to that man," Burlison added.

Michael Burlison actually thanked the media for helping him spread his message throughout this whole ordeal. And, with school starting for his daughter in a couple weeks, he looks forward to his family getting back to normal.
