Hearing held for accused killer of Kelsey Smith
5:06 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007
Lawyers for the man accused of kidnapping and killing Overland Park teenager Kelsey Smith have asked for several pieces of evidence collected by the prosecution.
Edwin Hall's lawyer Paul Cramm told Johnson County District Judge Peter Ruddick that he wants the original video of the Target store parking lot where Smith was abducted on June second.
Cramm said police viewing the original video did not see anyone confront Smith at her car. He says it was not until Target enhanced the video that it appeared Smith was shoved into her car.
District Attorney Phill Kline agreed to turn over the original video, which he said he received Friday. Cramm also asked Ruddick for orders preserving all DNA evidence in the case. The judge will rule later on that request.
