Green still wearing a Chiefs uniform

Not that anybody's counting or anything, but the Kansas City Chiefs are just 98-days away from their regular season opener against the Houston Texans.
In preparation, the Chiefs held their annual open mini-camp practice this weekend in Kansas City, an event which drew a record number 15,837 fans.
One of the biggest draws, still, is quarterback Trent Green. Despite numerous trade rumors, the 36-year old veteran remains in the red and gold uniform.
Owner Carl Peterson told NFL Network this weekend, as well the rest of the world, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if the Iowa native remained a Chief for one more year.
According to League sources, the Miami Dolphins are still the lone team interested in acquiring Green and are asking for a future fourth round draft pick.

Fabulous idea! The Chiefs really do need a QB controversy to bring the team closer together. Treating a hard-working, well-liked, productive veteran QB like yesterdays trash is just the way to make other veterans feel respected. I mean, really, what the heck would the Chiefs do with the extra $7.5M or so they would free up under the cap by trading or releasing Green. Why bother using that cap room for badly needed talent elsewhere, when you can pay a QB you no longer want to sit on the bench?
Really, the Chiefs should simply apologize to Green, release him and wish him well wherever he ends up. Anything less would show a complete lack of class...all in the hopes of extorting a 4th round draft pick from a team that would be smart to simply walk away from the talks and use one of the QBs already on their roster.
