The 4 C's

The difference between cuts of diamonds and shapes are explained as well as what the "fire" in a diamond is. Watch video.
The cut of the diamond, color, clarity and carat are four characteristics, or the 4 C's, diamond shoppers are going to want to consider, says John Dasher, a diamontologist with The Diamond House, 1801 SW Gage.
Most of his clients are men, who come in without their ladies. They are typically looking for the center stone, which is the most expensive part of a wedding ring set, he said.
The antique settings, circa 1930s, are becoming increasingly popular, he said.
Dasher suggests getting your ring cleaned regularly. You can do this by bringing it in to your local jeweler, or he says, you can use Windex.
Still, no matter how clean you have your diamond on the outside, it's how clean the diamond inside that really makes the stone pop. A clean diamond has few or is free of inclusions, which are faults inside the stone.
"Most stones have some inclusions," Dasher said.
