Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Westridge 8 Theatres, a showing of the modern classic E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial will be held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its release.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Kansas National Guard Fund, a source of assistance for the families of Guardsmen currently serving overseas. Keith says it's a great movie for a great cause! Admission to the film is $5.00, and tickets go on sale at 6:00 tonight at Westridge 8.
In addition to tonight's film, Kansas native Dee Wallace Stone, the actress who plays the mother in ET will be on hand to introduce the movie and then hold a question-answer session with the audience after the show.
This is a real family movie with the chance to meet a movie star, too.
Friday and Saturday will be the third annual "Slash and Bash", a horror movie festival. Friday night premieres Heartland of Horrors, a collection of scary film shorts by Kansas filmmakers. Following will be The Howling, which will be introduced by one of its stars, Dee Wallace Stone. Ms. Stone will again hold a question-answer session about this film after its showing.
On Saturday morning at 10:30, there will be a free family movie, Monster House, and free donuts. Films will continue through the day, including Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, Lost Boys and Cujo.
Admission to Saturday's films is $8.00, or you can buy a two-day pass Friday night for $10.00. Members of the military with their IDs will receive $1 off ticket prices.
