Two construction workers were killed on U.S. Highway 59 this morning in a hit-and-run accident. Authorities arrested two women after a ten-mile chase into Osage County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says deputies and troopers used "stop sticks" to get the truck to stop. One of the victims was a KDOT employee, the other was a contract employee. Human remains found in a shallow grave in Missouri are those of two missing children who haven't been seen since 2004. Authorities used dental records to confirm that the remains are those of Sam and Lindsay Porter. They were found on Sunday in a wooded area near Kansas City. The children were 7- and 8-years-old when they were last seen. Their father, Dan Porter, picked them up from his ex-wife for a weekend visit in June 2004. Porter has told several different stories about what happened to the children. He's serving 38-years for parental kidnapping with the intent to terrorize his ex-wife.

The nation pauses today to mark the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. At Ground Zero in New York, a bell tolled to start a moment of silence. After the silence, first responders and city workers read the names of the 2,750 people killed in the attacks on New York City. Ceremonies were also held at the Pentagon and at the Pennsylvania field where one of the four hijacked planes crashed.

Students and staff at Topeka High School gathered this morning to remember the terror attacks. Marine Junior ROTC led the ceremony which included speakers and a balloon release.
