Dreams do come true. And, people who cope with developmental disabilities can become rock stars.
Case in point, the former star of "Life Goes On," Chris Burke who played the memorable Corky Thatcher, a kid with down syndrome. Burke was diagnosed with down syndrome at an early age. Now he goes on tour with identical twin brothers, Joe and John DeMasi.
They'll be starring in a concert in Topeka at TARC, 2701 SW Randolph Ave. Burke and his band are set to play Thursday night. The concert will be held during the open house and reunion celebration, which is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., where many local individuals with disabilities will also be hailed and greeted at the Children Services Reunion.
Organizers say the open house is a good opportunity for community members to reconnect with staff, support services staff and individuals receiving help from TARC. If the weather cooperates, the kids can enjoy the new TARC playground.
