Imran Currah brought his children to the Topeka-Shawnee County Public Library, so he could register to vote again.

He's been living in Italy, and just moved back to Topeka with his family two weeks ago.

"We've been living in another country, and they talk about our politics as much as we do, but they can't vote, even though they are influenced by the decisions this country makes," said Currah.

He wants to show his children the importance of voicing their opinions through voting.

"Just so they can feel like they have a voice, and they're not helpless. They can actually have a say about things, and express their opinions," said Currah.

He sits down to register while his daughter watches him intently. Voting to him is a must do.

"It's the only thing I can do, I feel. Otherwise, I would throw up my hands and do nothing. At least I can vote if I can't do anything else," said Currah.

His girls follow him into turn in his registration. Imran says the beauty of living in this country is our given right to vote.

"We have a chance to pick leaders that we feel good about, sometimes, not always," said Currah.

He tells us about European countries valuing our political process.

"They really value the vote, and their ability to vote. Everyone is jealous of us over there, because we get to vote for the president of the United States, and they would like to do that too," said Currah.

He hopes his children will understand the responsibility Americans have to choose our leaders.

"If every person in this country was registered to vote and voted, everything would change," said Currah.
