Hit-and-run lands two in jail

Topeka Police arrested two men today in connection with a morning hit and run accident, vehicle pursuit and a stolen vehicle.

At about 9:10 a.m. today, officers were called to the 800 block of NW Gordon where a 13-year-old boy was riding a bicycle westbound when he was struck by a westbound pick-up. He was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries by AMR.

The suspect vehicle left the area. Officers spotted a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description on the Kansas Avenue Bridge. At 1st and Kansas, officers attempted to stop the vehicle and it continued traveling, refusing to stop, initiating a short pursuit. The vehicle stopped in the 700 block of Buchanan and the two occupants fled on foot. Officers located both subjects in the 700 block of SW Lincoln where they were taken into custody. The pick-up they were driving was determined to have been stolen.

Steven Rule Jr., 22, Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of felony theft, felony obstruction, felony eluding, failure to render aid, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal damage, four counts of stop sign violation, red light violation and suspended driver’s license.

Tyson J. Holloway, 22, Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of felony theft, felony obstruction, failure to render aid, misdemeanor theft and occupant failure to report.
