As the search continues for Larned State Hospital escapee Perry Isley, law enforcement, SRS and Larned State Hospital officials have made some initial discoveries regarding the escape.
Isley was convicted of molesting a child in Shawnee County.
Officials believe Isley escaped the from the hospital unit by hiding in a laundry bin that was placed outside of the secure building, but inside the security fencing, for overnight pick up. It is also believed that at some point Isley acquired bolt cutters, or some similar instrument, which he then used to cut through the two security fences surrounding the facility.
SRS and Larned State hospital are continuing the internal investigation to determine whether Isley was aided in these efforts. In addition, all hospital policies and procedures are being reviewed to determine whether agency policies were violated in any way or whether additional procedures will be implemented to ensure an incident of this nature does not occur again in the future.
