A 19-year-old man, under the ruse of asking for a ride to a local store, stole another man's 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix early this morning.
Police arrested Dustin Robinson after he threatened the driver of the Grand Prix, kicked him out and took police on a short pursuit, according to a Topeka Police Department press release.
The incident happened at 2:15 a.m. in the 3400 block of Southwest Oakley Avenue.
TPD Officer Ryan Hayden found the car less than four minutes later in the area of SW 37th Street and Kirklawn Avenue. The suspect fled from police and left the roadway at 37th Street and South Park Avenue, crashing the car, the press release states. The pursuit lasted less than five minutes.
Robinson was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on felony charges.
