It's been eight years since Shawnee County has seen a new face behind the District Attorney's desk.
But that could be the outcome of the race tonight.
Eric Rucker is currently leading incumbent Robert Hecht in the Republican Primary race for Shawnee County DA.
With 10 percent of the precincts reporting Rucker has 60 percent of the votes with Hecht trailing with 40 percent.
If Rucker wins, he will secure the spot for a newcomer in the DA's office.
"As we went door to door and knocked on hundreds of doors, I did not pick up from the public that they believed that the incumbent was aggressively attacking the violent crime problems that we have in the community," Eric Rucker said.
