Slattery will face Roberts
12:51 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008
Two men were vying for the chance to take Pat Roberts' seat in the senate.
And just one day after he turned sixty, Jim Slattery gets that chance.
Slattery beat Lee Jones to become the Democratic nominee in the race for U.S. Senate.
Winning 68 percent of the vote, Slattery is now looking ahead to November and is excited to face Roberts.
"The people of Kansas that I've visited with, literally all over this state, are ready for change. And they're sick and tired of partisanship," Slattery said. "And I've been telling the people that I believe the future of America is not in the right ditch, it's not in the left ditch. The future of America is right down the middle of the road."
