Manhattan business reports $6,000 loss in copper theft

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff Office is investigating the theft of $6,000 worth of insulated copper tubing.
Employees with Hill and Company, Inc., of Manhattan, discovered the theft while taking inventory. They told police rolls of 7/8" by 3/8" tubing were taken from a secured yard behind the business sometime between February 28 and August 4, according to a Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office press release.

Meanwhile, the sheriff's office is also looking for a 2007 red GMC pickup quad cab with the Kansas tag XUF 576. It was taken at about 5 p.m. Aug. 6 from a residence in Westmoreland. It was last seen northbound from the town on Kansas Highway 99. Any information that may lead to the recovery of the vehicle and arrest of its thief can be called in the sheriff's office at the number provided above.
