DVD Review:
Film Critic Keith Van Sickle tells us Oscar-winner Jodie Foster's star power cannot save "Nim's Island"
Oscar-winner Jodie Foster stars in Nim's Island, which came out on DVD today. She co-stars in this kids movie with Abigail Breslin, of "Little Miss Sunshine."
Nim Rusoe (Breslin) and her father are isolated island. He goes missing for awhile, so Nim turns to a reclusive author (Foster). They become friends and learn lessons like heroism.
"For a lot of it, I was completely bored when I saw it in the theaters," Film Critic Keith Van Sickle said. "And, on the DVD it doesn't get much better."
Foster and Breslin are fantastic, but the story lacks, he said.
The DVD features commentary from both actresses, which is unusual, he said. Usually the commentary is by the director.
"This is one that you can skip," Van Sickle said. "It should have been better than it was."
He recommended it for rent for children, but not as a new release.
