Kansas Speedway says it will seek a second NASCAR Sprint Cup series race if it gets a contract for a state-owned casino in Wyandotte County.
The speedway and the Cordish Company formed Kansas Entertainment, which is among four applicants seeking the management contract.
The speedway announced its proposal today as the state casino review board began public hearings in Kansas City. The board will decide next month who gets the single contract.
The proposed Hard Rock Hotel and Casino would have 3,000 slot machines and a 300-room hotel on the speedway grounds overlooking the track's Turn 2.
A law enacted last year also allows a casino in Cherokee, Ford and Sumner counties.
