Making motorcycles more obvious
A new tool makes motorcycles more visible to other motorists by pulsing power to the headlight six times per second, which creates a flashing appearance.
A new tool is making it safer for motorcyclists on the road.
It's a headlight modulator.
Topeka Police are the newest group to get the gadget.
It makes motorcycles more visible to other motorists by pulsing power to the headlight six times per second, which creates a flashing appearance.
"The Topeka Police Department officers on the motorcycle unit are no different than civilians riding in the streets as far as visibility," said Sgt. Bill White of the Topeka Police Motorcycle Unit. "We have the same visibility issues and concerns that the motorcycle public has. By installing those headlight modulators, that will allow us to be seen a little more, and civilians will also put those on motorcycles to increase visibility."
The modulators can make motorcycles 200 percent more visible.
