Sebelius continues normal schedule of events

All week, the governor has managed talk around her possible VP nomination, and today was no exception.

Governor Kathleen Sebelius rolled up in this gray car with tinted windows at the Kansas History Museum, ready for a day of official business.

But one step out of the car and she was asked if she got a phone call about whether or not she was Barack Obama's choice for Vice President.

Emporia where?

If Governor Sebelius is not picked as Obama's running mate, would he give her a Cabinet-level position? That's what the Emporia Gazette wanted to ask Obama and they thought they were going to get their chance. A volunteer with Obama's campaign called their newsroom Thursday afternoon saying he would be making a quick stop in Emporia. But the volunteer had made a mistake. Obama was making a stop in Emporia Thursday, but not in the Sunflower State. He was stopping in Emporia, Virginia.

"I don't really comment on my phone calls and as I've told you for months, all the comments about this process and the discussions are really coming from the campaign," Sebelius said.

No matter where Sebelius goes, all week she's been the talk of the town as speculation over Obama's running mate continues.

If she's not chosen, Sebelius says her role in Obama's campaign will focus on getting him elected president.

"It continues in a surrogate role, traveling around the country, traveling with him, speaking on his behalf," she said.

Sebelius will help make history at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

She is one of four women co-chairs and will speak Tuesday night.

"Families around this state and states across the country are struggling to pay for gas and pay their bills and we think Barack Obama is exactly the leader we need to get this country back on track," the governor said.

And if not as Vice President, does Sebelius see herself as apart of Obama's administration?

"That's a long way down the line, who knows, I may have a job in the near future, you can't tell," she said.

Kathleen Sebelius would be the BEST VEEP ever! I live in CA but have followed her political career and she is the total package - she is smart and interested in her constituents. Go, Gov. S!
