Residents excited over a future parking lot
The final piece of a Central Topeka project gets the go-ahead, and some funding, from the city council tonight.
The final piece of a Central Topeka project gets the go ahead from city council tonight.
Residents of this College Hill apartment complex will have the parking they want, and the city is going to help pay for it.
Although some said the city shouldn't have to chip in for improvements, neighbors say the investment the city made has already brought returns for everyone.
Dolores Smith was at the meeting.
"We have people buying homes, we have everything and our property values have gone up. It's wonderful, we're excited," she said.>
The city council voted 5 to 4 in favor of the lot.
The city will contribute almost $400,000 to the project.
