Purple Power on Poyntz brings sense of normalcy to tornado-damaged town

Manhattan "Go K-State!"
Cheers for the team and town, and no sign of the June 11 tornado here as kids enjoy a bean bag toss and a snow cone during the first night of Purple Power Play on Poyntz. A real crowd-pleaser was the KTKA ring toss.
This is one town that can really bounce back. That was the thought running through Matt Crocker's head as he watching his kids enjoy the bouncy inflatable.
"It was remarkable to see how the community came together and everyone's been really supportive. We live up in the area, and there's a lot of people really struggling. Everyone has a positive attitude," he said.
Folks were standing tall and cheering for football season. With fraternities and sororities showed renewed passion for philanthropy.
Purple Power Play on Poyntz

Luke Bones is helping to raise money.
"Every year it's gone to Flint Hills Bread Basket here in town," he said.
Whether it's watermelon or climbing on an inflatable, this town and school shows that no obstacle can dampen their school spirit.
Kylee Francis was here during the tornado and just entered K-State as a freshman.
"That was actually really scary, but it's fun to see everybody out here again and kind of back to normal," she said.
