Funds for police equipment in jeopardy

The money approved to pay for the city’s new helicopter may have just disappeared.
In a press release today, the city’s public information office says that an ordinance which increases court costs by $5 to pay for police equipment, may not be legitimate.
A state law says that the city council needed a three-fourths majority vote, or seven votes, to override the mayor’s veto. The city council passed the ordinance with only 6 votes.
The city is reviewing the state law. In the meantime, it has suspended the collection of this fund and is looking into how it might refund the money already collected.

Does journalistic integrity mean anything to you at all? The money from the fund cannot be committed by this council on future councils. This council approved money to pay for the new helicopter when they approve the budget!
