MTAA resignation raises questions

49 News conducted an investigation into a property tax increase to benefit Topeka's two airports in December. Is Mike Humberd's resignation related to this investigation?
The MTAA board won't say. They will only say Humberd's resignation is a personnel matter.
We've been trying to get a hold of employees, but no one would return our calls.
Michael Humberd's resignation came down late Friday afternoon. It comes just one month after our investigation.
Last month, we asked Humberd why a portion of your property taxes went up 30 percent at Topeka's two airports.
It was Humberd's first budget and the first time the tax went up in nearly ten years.
The first time I asked Humberd why, he couldn't tell me.
So we launched an investigation which found your tax dollars were simply sitting in a reserve account, unused.
When I tried to question Humberd about that, this is the response I got.
"We had a few more questions for you. I didn't know if we could ask you them," Jesse said.
"Probably not," Humberd said, closing his office door in Jesse's face.
Humberd eventually came out of hiding and said the airport needed the money in its checkbook to pay bills.
I also tried to make contact with Humberd tonight.
He did not return my call.

In other words, the County/City rips us off AGAIN. Why don't we have any say in these matters ??

Bob,
Educate yourself. The MTAA has nothing to do with the city or county governments. They are a separate taxing entity just like the City, County and the School districts.
