Experience a bit of history at the PRCA Rodeo
4:17 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008
The PRCA Rodeo is in town at the Kansas Expocentre.
More than 270 contestants from 16 states will be competing, including Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. Cowboys will take part in rodeo events like bucking broncos and barrel racing.
Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00.
Friday night is "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" night, which benefits Shawnee County breast cancer awareness organizations and spectators are invited to show their support by wearing pink. As they say, real cowboys wear pink.
Saturday night, the events are the same but a new group of cowboys will compete.
A variety of ticket prices are available as well as seating arrangements, available through TicketMaster. The rodeo is a family event, and as such, every effort is made to make it affordable.
For rodeo newcomers, it is piece of history that appeals to all ages. There is bareback riding, which is the most physical of the events. Also, there's rough-and-tumble bull riding, and timed events like tie-down roping, team roping and steer wrestling.
Once again, come out and enjoy the PRCA Rodeo, Friday and Saturday nights at the Kansas Expocentre. For more information and ticket prices, log onto www.ticketmaster.com.
