Firefighters file complaint

Firefighters say they're being punished for being in the union and it's gotten so bad they've filed a complaint with the state.
Men in fire engine red shirts with strong messages crowded the hall outside the City Council chambers tonight.
They say Chief Giles transferred members who were in the union so they couldn't meet.
The city responded that the practice is common.
Still, we found both sides could agree on one thing.
Kent Dederick, President Local 83 said, "We do our job, day-in and day-out, regardless of the management. It's a shame that we have to put up with this kind of abuse from administration."
David Bevens agrees.
"This is a professional fire department and these are professonal men and women that have worked hard on their careers and that will not change," Bevens said.
The city says they've made changes that give senior members more responsibility.
The union countered that that only affects 9 of the 50 people who were transferred.

Why! You guys are a bunch of big babies! Move on. You will not win. The Chief is still here and you have no grounds to file this. Just because you cant get him fired so you start this crap! Dont you have anything else to complain about than the chief. What does it matter what station your at. you do your job and then you go home. get over it he is not leaving.

It appears to me that GIJOE has never worked in a position that requires you to risk your life everyday while doing your job.
People who work in emergency services are always looked at as cry babies when it comes to contracts and wanting a fair and equal work place.
GIJOE should be ashamed of himself for not supporting the firefighters union and their plight. Because when he makes a call for service they will come and risk their well being for you and your family without thinking twice.
And for this I/ we must support all emergency service professionals when it comes to issues regarding better pay and working environments. Marge796......

I agree with Marge796. Not having faith in the very person who is supposed to lead you while you help others in dire situations is a BIG problem. So GIJOE maybe you should think about that a little harder before you go and call the men and women who work day in and day out to save lives "babies!".
