Update: Visioning process moves forward
5:40 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008
After months of planning and paperwork, Heartland Visioning Task Force held their first meeting this morning at the Ramada Inn.
The task force represents more than 200 members from all parts of Shawnee County working towards community improvement. Members reviewed five priorities such as education, quality of life, infrastructure, economic development, and government leadership.
Executive Director William Beteta and members discussed deadlines for a draft of their vision plan. The first draft is due by August 25th and will be open to the public.
"Keep moving forward, that's the process," said Beteta. To keep the plan moving, he is asking the community to stay informed. "Being involved, staying in touch when the plan comes out August 25th, get a copy of it." he said.
Heartland Visioning's next meeting is July 17th at Washburn University.
