Community Keeps Giving special highlights volunteers' efforts
CKG volunteers and recipients come to celebrate

A very special Sunday at KTKA. We honored the families and volunteers who helped with our "Community Keeps Giving" project. A barbecue KTKA-style fed everyone's appetite, but the project that brought all these folks together was food for the soul.
Raymond Beard was one of the people who got help.
"It's a great feeling to have something that's halfway decent now."
Team members facilitated each project. While it might seem like they bit off more than they could chew, each house eventually came together.
Philicia McKee team member was one of those team members.
"I also went to the businesses community and they opened up their hearts and their pocket books big big time."

KTKA General Manager Kathy Mohn won't let these amazing volunteers forget how much we appreciate them.
" Your generosity is heart-warming," she said as she gave them each a memento.
Keith Kerns and Dave Stephens helped Ray Stanton who came to our barbecue. Ray arrived and left in style in a new van from Briggs KIA. His whole family got the chance to say thanks back to Topeka, the community that keeps giving.
Ray's mom, Karen Barezinsky says "it rolled in and it was there and I can't even explain how I felt that day. It was probably the happiest I've felt in a couple years."
And to help the community keep giving. Members of Let's Help again worked the phones in the 49 News room where generous community members called in raising nearly $500. And our recipients know it's not just what you receive, but also what you give back to your community.

"As far as the volunteering I'll keep going and giving back I'll have a hand in Let's Help as long as I can."
