A record number of Topeka neighborhoods signed up for the 2008 National Night Out.
Members from 34 different neighborhoods across Topeka got together for their final meeting before the big night.
One by one, neighborhood leaders explained what they'll be doing and it seemed to get a little competitive.
"I think they get really excited about their different events," Safe Streets Community Mobilizer Liesl Hays said. "Some neighborhoods choose something as small as an ice cream social and other neighborhoods have events like carnivals that have over hundreds of people that attend."
