Local bank collects goodies for Humane Society

Cap Fed volunteers help care for critters

A group of local volunteers making life better for our furry friends.

"I just think that they like knowing that they're doing something nice for those that can't do anything for themselves."

That's exactly what the Helping Hands Humane Society Volunteer Committee from Capitol Federal is doing.

The committee found the best way to help is by donating items to our four-legged friends at the shelter.

"We have had an overwhelming response."

Boxes are put out at each Capitol Federal branch to collect blankets, medical supplies, toys, pet treats, and other pet supplies.

The committee takes the boxes to the shelter every few months, but that's not soon enough for some branches.

"We've got some branches that have taken the initiative to take in their own donations because they're taking in so much that we can't keep up with them."
