Walking is an activity that's often touted for slimming down.
However, walking, instead of driving, might slim more than your waist. Your wallet could also get lighter, if you're searching for that number one walkable vacation spot.
And, according to Walk Score, the nation's most walkable city is San Francisco, which also can be an expensive city to visit.
New York City strode to the number two spot.
Number three was Boston, known for its friendly residential streets.
The closest to Topeka was Kansas City, Mo. It ranked number 44.
The "walkability" ratings are based on the relative distances of nearby amenities, such as shopping districts, schools and workplaces.
You can get your Walk Score for any address. Just log on to WalkScore.com. That's where you can also see the entire list of walkable cities.
