It's not unusual to fill up the tank once a week.
But putting $4 in the tank is.
Stephen Mason rides his scooter all over Nashville's side streets. This Jars of Clay guitarist lives in downtown and practices in Berry Hill.
"I own a Jeep Cherokee, and I have to use that for hauling gear and stuff like that, but for quick errands around town, nothing beats it," Mason said about his scooter.
But what if you're not a Christian rock star? Will driving a scooter fit your lifestyle?
"Most of the people who buy the bigger ones are suit and tie. You got plenty of storage on it for your briefcases or laptops," scooter salesman Dan Rolfson said.
American Motor Sports just has a handful of scooters left. But once these are gone, they're gone.
"American Honda has sold out of their scooters for the year. We can't get anymore than what we have in stock now. Trying to get them here, keep them here has been difficult," Rolfson said.
This has been the busiest year for this Nashville store and with 115 miles per gallon; it's not hard to see why.
But as the fuel effiency increases, so do people's safety concerns.
That's why this Nashville artist says he keeps his scooter off the highway.
"It's all about defensive driving and being aware of your surroundings and being aware of the SUVs," Mason said.
