If you see a man with a pink wig and sunglasses walking through Topeka today, do not be alarmed.
Ron Kessler justifies his striking appearance with a simple reason. When a close friend from Colorado was diagnosed with a terminal breast cancer, he decided to walk across America to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection.

"I've done long-distance trips before, but I have never done that for a cause," Kessler says. ""Comparatively it's easy, I've had a couple of weather days that were rough. But I've seen what my friends were going through, I see what others like her and their friends and family go through fighting cancer, THEY have the tough part. Anything I'm doing out there is pretty easy by comparison."
His journey began in Delaware on March 1 and he expects to finish in California by Labor Day.
Kessler hopes his cross American journey will help him raise $100,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.
