The natural vistas in Kansas have been much of the inspiration for local artist Daniel Coburn's work.

His latest creation, a hardbound book called "Between Earth and Sky," features striking pictures of the state's landscapes.

49 Anchor Gena Terlizzi said he pictures were beautiful, during an interview with Coburn on today's Good Morning Kansas. Watch that interview above.

This new book features more than 40 of Coburn's popular landscape photos.

It also features a forward by Kansas Curator and advocate of the arts Don Lambert.

"My focus is on the people and the landscape of Kansas," he said of his work.

Colburn just recently was honored with the 2008 Kansas Mid-Career Artists Fellowship, presented in part of by the Kansas ARts Commission and the Naitonal Endowment for the Arts.

It's just one of many awards given to this man who considers it his job to represent the Sunflower State through art.

"Between Earth and Sky" retails about $14. It's available at Southwind Gallery in Topeka, the Kansas Sampler and the Kansas State Historical Society

That evening is also part of the First Friday Gallery Walk, where visitors can see Coburn's artwork and works by other regional and nationally acclaimed artists.
