Manhattan Nearly 500 high school boys are attending Boy State in Manhattan this week.
The students participate in mock elections, congress and other political events.
Nearly 500 young men will take home many lessons from Kansas Boys State this week, but a few of those men gave one special thing above the rest: talent. Check out these talent show highlights from this week's Boys State.
Guest speakers like Kansas State Secretary Ron Thornburg have inspired these young men, especially one who was recently elected governor.
“It’s really exciting,” says Andrew Koucky, the new Boys State Governor. “And the first thing you take office, that’s when everything hits you. A thousand people to talk to, a thousand things to think about but it’s always fun.”
Boys State participants learn how to have fun with politics, too. The Boys State House of Representatives voted to have their officials wear togas while in legislative session.
