Police investigate hit-and-run, shooting near school

Topeka Police officers are searching for the person who fired off shots near a school today and a red Ford Ranger pick-up that fled the scene after hitting someone.
Police believe the shooting and the hit-and-run are connected.
A 22-year-old man was the victim. He was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries
Just before the hit-and-run, someone called police to report a fight and a shooting in the 5th and Davies area. No one was struck with bullets, and the gunman is still on the loose.
As a result, students at Scott Magnet Elementary, 401 SE Market St., were locked down. Many students have now gone home.
The incidents occurred at about noon today.
