One person was killed in Soldier following severe storms that spread across Northeast and Central Kansas.
Homes were hit hard, and trees were torn down across the area.
Larry Holliday, a tornado victim, said the worst of it was over in five minutes, leaving weeks of repair work behind.
"Come on up the stairs and we have an attic fan, and I looked up at what I could see, light up through there, and I thought the roof's gone or at least part of it," he said.
A spokesman with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said a couple of homes are completely destroyed.
