Poker Run to benefit Topeka youth
10:25 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008
Rev up your engines for the 2008 Topeka Youth Project Poker Ride.
The event begins with registration at 9 a.m. A map will be provided at registration time.
Bikers will take off at 10 a.m. However, don't feel out of place if you are on four wheels, said Topeka Youth Project representative Desmond Henry. This Poker Run is not just for motorcyclists.
The best hand after the poker run gets $200, but you can still win if you lose. The worse hand gets $100.
Drawings and a silent auction will be held. One of the items up for bid is two tickets to the Sturgis Bike Rally in August.
It's $15 for one hand and $25 for two hands. The Poker Run begins at the Pad Restaurant, 1730 NW Topeka Blvd.
Proceeds go to the Topeka Youth Project, which teaches area youth about self-esteem, job skills and other ways they can contribute to society. They work particularly with reducing high-risk youth's risk of falling out of society.
