Now it was definite after Wednesday's win in the Sunflower Showdown that the Kansas State women's basketball team had won at least a share of the Big 12 title.
But after last night's 72-68 upset of Baylor, courtesy Oklahoma State, the Cats now have their first ever conference championship outright.
The urple ladies now have a first round bye and will play the winner of the Iowa State-Colorado first round match-up.
Even more good news for the Wildcats, the Kansas State women's basketball team is being recognized by the conference.
Deb Patterson named the Big 12 Coach of the year. This is the second time she's won the award.
Meanwhile Shalee Lehning picked up a conference Player of the Week honor in the last week of the season. Lehning scored a career-high 29 points along with grabbing 17 boards in the Cats 61-50 win over Kansas Wednesday.
Lehning was also named to the All Big 12 team along with teammate Kimberly Dietz.
The two guards are just two of the four Cats averaging double-figures in scoring, with Dietz leading the team.
Marlies Gipson got second team honors.
While KU's Danielle McCray received an Honorable Mention nod.
In Topeka RoadRunners action, they beat the Tornado 6-0.
