49 Crime Tracker: First quarter crime down
8:36 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008
In tonight's 49 News Crime Tracker, crime in Topeka has dropped about 25 percent the last three months compared to last year.
Police say the drop comes in part from the public being more aware, but also because of the nasty weather we've seen this winter.
"I think there's a couple of reasons. People don't like to be out in the cold, number one," Topeka Police Capt. Ron Brown said. "I think the snow makes it more easy for us to track people to get evidence of crimes and criminal activity."
