KTKA 49 ABC invites public to help with Oprah's Big Give: Topeka
11:41 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Over the past twelve months, KTKA 49 ABC News has focused its reporting on neighborhoods in need and the importance of addressing neighborhood code violations. We have worked closely with local community groups to draw attention to these neighborhoods and help them clean up, eliminate the potential for crime and make these neighborhoods a cleaner and safer place to live.
KTKA 49 ABC News has been selected by ABC to partner with Oprah Winfrey and her new series “Oprah’s Big Give.” Together we will be able to enhance our ability to work with the Neighborhood Improvement Associations and the homeowners to do more to rejuvenate their homes and neighborhoods. Our vision is to foster pride in communities and make them a safer place for all to live and work.
“Oprah’s Big Give” will help us make an even bigger difference in our community.
But we don’t just want to help with the outside of homes. We also want to help the people living inside. KTKA’s strategy is to join forces with “Let’s Help,” the neighborhood NIAs and local businesses to secure the supplies and labor needed to bring these homes back to life and to help the families living inside!
With everyone involved we know we can make Topeka an even safer Capital City and a place everyone can be proud to call home!!. That is why we are asking you for your help!!
